Collection contains files compiled by Helen Epstein while researching her book "Joe Papp: an American life" (1994). In addition to newsclippings, reproductions of documents, press releases, reminiscences of friends and family, subject files, and programs, the collection contains reproductions of photographs (many used as illustrations in the book), an incomplete typescript of the book's penultimate draft, books on American theater, and academic theses on Papp and on the New York Shakespeare Festival. There are also audiotapes of interviews conducted by Epstein with Papp, his family, friends, and colleagues; and videotapes of Papp productions.
